Combine Course Tool is available. This tool does replace the Enrollment Grafter. View the documentation on the right to use this tool. This documentation is not part of the Blackboard Manual at this time. The Blackboard Manual will be updated once we determine the Combine Course Tool to be functioning properly.

Note: The Course Copy tool is not functioning properly. If you would like to move content from one course to another, use the Export Course and Import Package tools.  You will find instructions in the Course Options document.

Blackboard is a learning management system that can be used to supplement classroom instruction or provide a platform for online courses. You can efficiently manage courses, author content, create assignments, and foster collaboration using discussion boards and chat rooms. A gradebook is available along with exporting functions. You need an Internet connection to access Blackboard. Every faculty member has a course shell for all courses he/she is teaching. You also have the option of combining course sections into one course using the Enrollment Grafter in Blackboard.

The Blackboard Helpdesk

The Blackboard helpdesk is available 24/7 for all faculty, staff, and students.
Call 1-866-434-8874 if you need a password reset or require assistance troubleshooting problems that you encounter while using Blackboard.

The Online Support Center contains a knowledge base, animated tutorials, live chat with a service representative, and ticket submission for issues.

Logging Into Blackboard

Your user id will be your campus network email id preceded by 10.

Example: John Smith username would be 10jsmith. This is necessary to identify usernames with universities in the state system. Each university is identified with a number, Bloomsburg's being 10.

Your password will be the first 4 letters of your last name (in all caps) and your date of birth (full year/month/day).

Example: John Smith was born on April 1, 1974 so his password would be SMIT19740401.

Helping Students Log In

A student user id will be student's campus network email id. Student user id is usually first initial, middle initial, and the first 6 letters of the last name, preceded by a 10.

Example: John L. Smith, username would be 10jlsmith. Student's can look up their username in STINF. Student usernames will now be included on the class lists. If they are still unable to login, have them call the help desk number above.

Student password will be their first 4 characters of their last name (first letter of last name capitalized) and their date of birth full year/month/day.

Example: John Smith was born on April 1, 1974 so password would be Smit19740401.

Important! All students are encouraged to use their university email address, which is the same user id and password that is given in STINF. The reason this is encouraged is if they need their password reset by the Blackboard helpdesk, the new password will be emailed to their bloomu.edu account. For example, John L. Smith email would be jlsmith@bloomu.edu. For security reasons, the helpdesk cannot give passwords over the phone and they cannot send the password to any other email account.

Course Enrollment

Students are not able to add their own accounts.

All users, course ids, and course enrollment will be automated with our class schedules and uploaded to the Blackboard server. Every night we will run update files to ensure that students that are enrolled in Bloomsburg University classes are also enrolled in the correct blackboard classes.

Likewise, if a student drops a course, we will be running files to make sure they are removed from the Blackboard course.
