Who Uses STINF?

Undergraduate degree students may use the Student Information System (STINF) to schedule and register.

CAPS Advisement
You can use the CAPS Advisement System to show which classes you have taken, how many requirements you have met, and your grades throughout the previous semesters. This is a VERY useful tool for scheduling classes and to keep you on track from taking courses you don't have to.

STINF is available Mon. through Fri. 8:00 AM to midnight, Sat. 8 am to 9 pm, Sunday noon to midnight. If you try to log in other than these times, the page will fail to load!

Problems Logging in?

First step - try this download!

Experience has shown that downloading java helps most end users who are experiencing log on issues. Follow the download instruction listed on the java website.

If this step does not help, read other troubleshooting tips below.

Norton 360 antivirus program on Vista Operating System

Norton 360 may adversely affect the operation of STINF.  We are aware of the problem but there is no fix at the current time. Please check STINF on a university computer.

Clearing your browsers memory cache

Assuming you are using Internet Explorer..
  1. Clear your memory and disk cache by going to Tools>>>Internet Options

  2. Click on "Delete Cookies" and "Delete Files" Click "OK" to each box that pops up, then click "OK" to close this box

    Mozilla / Firefox Users:

    1. Open Firefox, click Tools >>>Options

    2. Then click the Clear Button on both Cookies & Cache as shown below.

Java Virtual Machine Error (STINF not loading at all)

If STINF does not load at all, and all you see is a little red X , like the one below, then you do not have the Java virtual machine loaded on your computer. It can be easily, and automatically downloaded by following the download instruction listed on the java website.

Virtual Machine Error Example

AOL Users

If you are using America Online and have difficulty accessing the STINF screen, try these suggestions:

  1. After logging into AOL, minimize it.
  2. Open Internet Explorer and attempt STINF again.
  3. If this doesn't work, you may wish to delete temporary internet files and clear your browser memory cache. (See instructions listed at the top of this section, directly under "Problems Logging In?" line.

Cookie Errors

In order to successfully complete a STINF transaction, your browser must be set to enable Java and accept all cookies. If you are using Internet Explorer, you can check these settings by selecting Tools > Internet Options > Then select the Security Tab, and change the settings to Medium .

PIN Number Problems

If you have PIN problems, please stop by the Registrar's Office in the Student Services Center. After producing your photo ID, they will be able to assist you. Please note, you may also call the Registrar's Office at 570-389-4263 between the hours of 8:00 to 4:30 Eastern time for PIN assistance.

MAC User Problems

MAC OS 9.x Users - Netscape Navigator 4.7, which is available on most campus computers or can easily be downloaded, provides effective access to the mainframe computer, STINF, and FCINF.

MAC OS X Users - Netscape Navigator 4.7 also works fine in the Classic mode under OS X and should be used to access the mainframe programs STINF and FCINF. (The OS X version of both Netscape and Microsoft Explorer, however, do not work with OS X and should be avoided for accessing the mainframe programs.)

STINF was developed by the Applications Development and Operations Department for the convenience of our students.

If you have technical problems with STINF, please review the section above called "Problems Logging In?"

If you are working in a campus lab and are continuing to have problems, please check with the lab assistant if one is available.

The Help Desk (x4357) is available to assist you from 8 am to 4 pm daily.

Comments regarding technical problems with STINF on the web can be directed to stinfqus@bloomu.edu. Please do not send your social security number or any other sensitive information using this email link.
