Stay Informed...

  • Bloomsburg University is adding a new system for communicating emergency information to the campus community. The ConnectED system is designed to send text, voice and e-mail messages to compatible devices in the event of an emergency situation.

  • The notification system will be used only in an emergency situation. Please click on the appropriate link -- student, BU employee or non-BU employee with a university e-mail account -- to see the available options.

  • Standard charges from your cell phone provider will apply.

Important Note to Students...

  • Students are automatically enrolled in this service. In case of an extreme emergency, an e-mail message will be sent to their Bloomsburg University student e-mail account. A voicemail message also will be sent to the phone number associated with a student’s permanent residence.

  • Students will also receive a voicemail message to the telephone number for their residence hall room or off-campus apartment if they provided the number on STINF under the Emergency Contact Information page.

  • The parent/guardian cell phone and the parent/guardian e-mail address entered on STINF under the Emergency Contact Information page are specifically NOT included in the emergency notification system.

BU Employees and Non-BU Employees with a University E-Mail Account...

  • Participation in this service is voluntary for BU employees. Employees are not required to sign up for any type of notifications, but those who do may choose to be notified by any or all of the methods mentioned above -- voice, text and e-mail. The notification system will be used in an emergency situation only. While participation is voluntary, employees are strongly encouraged to sign up for at least one method of notification.

Frequently Asked Questions...

  • How do I opt-out of text messaging?
    You may opt-out at any time by texting “STOP bloomu" or “QUIT bloomu" to 23177.

  • What if I opted-out of text messaging but later decide I would like to opt-in text messaging again?
    You may request to begin receiving text messages by texting “SUBSCRIBE bloomu" to 23177.

  • If I change mobile phone providers but keep the same number, do I need to opt-in text messaging again?
    No.  Once your phone number has been opted-in, it stays registered within the system.
